I have a website, what next…

I have been blessed to be in the website-making business for over 4 years now, and every time I finalize a project, most clients normally have the same question(s):

“How do I get traffic on my site?”

“How do I start getting sales?”

“How do I rank higher on Google?”

Welp, as you might have guessed from the heading, having a website is one thing, but having a website that works for you is a whole different thing.

So, if your website is done, here are some things you should work on to increase the chances of your site being a success.

1. Promote It!

This may be the most important thing you can do for your site. There are two ways to go about it; the organic route and the paid route.

For the organic route, you simply need to leverage your existing social media platforms. Think outside the box for this. For example, you could come up with an idea called “Spin Tuesdays,” where you give your followers a chance to win something on your site by spinning a wheel. You could also come up with special coupons or discounts for special occasions.

Then we have the paid route. Here, you simply need to leverage Meta ads and Google ads to get new prospects on your site.

P.S.: Google ads can sometimes be expensive, but they are very powerful because they target what people search for on Google. This could be an amazing opportunity for your business.

2. Create Content

Have you ever heard of the stone that killed 2 birds? That might as well have been content creation.

Let me explain.

By creating blogs, vlogs, tutorials, new articles, etc, on your site, you naturally generate organic traffic (there goes bird number one).

Secondly, in this day and age where the ‘digital noise’ is getting louder, you need to stand out.

How?

By showing your expertise.

According to the laws of Conversion Rate Optimization, one of the key selling points for any business is trust. Content creation will help with is, especially if you can use it to show your expertise in the field your business operates in (and down goes bird number two).

Finally, content creation is a powerful tool for SEO.

3. Keep Things Fresh

Respectfully speaking, don’t bore your website visitors. It’s bad for user engagement.

Instead of having your website ‘static’ for months, think about switching images every now and then. Think of adding new animations on a regular basis. Think of changing up the design every now and then. Also, leverage coupons, discounts, and content creation, so every time someone visits your site, they find something new.

4. Leverage Feedback

For the data analysts in the house, this one should be straightforward. Collecting data on your site will help you make better decisions on what’s working and what isn’t.

From my personal experience, the best kind of feedback will always come from your ‘loyal’ customers/clients. To use them, you could email/DM them, and ask them to review your website, for a free token of some sort: could be a discount voucher, free shipping, or whatever works in your case).

5. Utilize your site

Finally, utilize your site. If you have clients who normally DM you asking for product prices, kindly ask them to visit your site.

If you have clients who normally buy via WhatsApp/call, please ask them to buy directly from your site.

If you have commonly asked questions that you regularly answer on WhatsApp, direct your prospect to your site.

Building this habit, will help increase your organic traffic, which will in turn help you rank higher, and higher on Google.
